Andrea Ponti (Cagliari, 1985) is an Industrial Designer working on international projects between Italy and Japan.
Graduated in Industrial Design at Politecnico di Milano in July 2006, attended one year at Kyushu University (Fukuoka, Japan) focusing on electric products and transportation design. During this year participates in numerous workshops and internships at the major Japanese companies including Honda Motors, Toyota, Daihatsu and Mitsubishi Electric.
Master degree in product design at the Politecnico di Milano in 2008 with a project on Japanese high-speed "Shinkansen" trains. Project developed with the collaboration of Japan Railways Group, Paolo Schianchi Architecture Studio and the italian architect Giuseppe Chigiotti. After returning to Fukuoka in 2009, spent an year as a researcher at Kyushu University where joined a project on house appliances, furniture and tableware. Moved to Osaka, collaborated with Hers Experimental Design Laboratory of the Japanese designer Chiaki Murata and Metaphys brand as product designer and consultant for the Italian and European markets.
From July 2010 he is working with Junzo Yamashita at Space Magic Mon Design Studio (Kyoto) where is responsible for product design and strategic consulting. Still working with Paolo Schianchi Architecture Studio, Disegno Ceramica, CE International, Il Sole 24 Ore Business Media, the architecture portal www.Floornature.com, organizes events and exhibitions between Italy and Japan.
