I think its hard to find people and good designs... I have 2 suggestions...
1. On the work page allow users to view works by ratings, user name, etc as well as date submitted... . Example right now works are placed in the order they're uploaded. Give your viewers the option to search by rating ( highest to lowest ) User name, and Perhaps even title of works.
2. "People" needs a little something as well. Right now the A's have a HUGE advantage over the other letters. Example I'm a "U" So more then likely my name will always be on the last page which obviously won't get checked out as much. Perhaps like my "Work Page" suggestion. Have the option to sort out by number of portfolio pieces, list the artist of the week, new members, old members etc....
That's all I've got. I love this site though and see huge potential for the future. Nice concept and Design,

Currently you can sort by "top rated" work, which will show all work from highest to lowest rating. I think this may be better to enable by default, to show only the best work first.
I also agree 100% with your other suggestions, and will begin working on implementing them. I think it will also be helpful to sort people by alphabet, showing only those that start with a certain letter. Finding people might also become easier in the future, as I implement a friends system into the website.
